Growing up in Historical Reenacting, a passion for history is in Steve's blood. He was very interested in the Sailor's life and art so he started making his own tools and scrimshawing the way the Sailors would have done it.
Then Engraving caught his eye. He met the late Ron Ehlert, a Master Engraver, who he studied under for seven years before Ron passed away. (He will be missed).
In 2008, he was accepted into the Grand Masters program at GRS in Emporia KS, and Studied under Philippe Grifne'e, Master Engraver from Belgium.
